Animal Health Direct Limited was established in February 2001 by Richard Kettle whose background is very much in agriculture.

Richard is from a farming family in the Hawke’s Bay and got involved in the animal health industry when he joined Ciba Geigy as a sales rep for the East Coast in 1991.

After spending 8 years with Ciba and then Novartis Animal Health (formed by the merger of Ciba and Sandoz) the opportunity presented itself to move back to Hawke’s Bay and set up an Animal Health business.

Animal Health Direct Limited does not supply direct to the market as the name may suggest. The current product range consists of, Varicide Disinfectant, Varicide Gel, Vetacide Disinfectant, Equine Health (17 products), Over the Moon Calcium based energy drench, Stock Iodine’s and Iodine Tincture Sprays, Purified Deionised Water, Coloured Methylated Spirits, Antiseptic Obstetric Lube and Selenium 0.5% drench are distributed through Farm merchandise outlets nationally. Animal Health Direct also has third party distribution in the North Island of Venus Spray-On and Liquid, generic cyromazine based fly protection products, Minject & Calject Metabolics.

In most cases the products offered by Animal Health Direct Limited are unique formulations offering new benefits to the end users. All formulations (except third party products) are manufactured in New Zealand by a Veterinary approved manufacturing plant.

The Varicide and Equine Health range are exported to Australia and “growth strategies” are in place to expand sales in this market.
